Best Small Apps for Android (Less Than 1MB)

Today, new smartphones usually feature 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Despite this, most old and even some new low-budget phones still have little RAM and even less internal memory than the average phone.

Play Store apps are generally designed for high-end and mid-range devices, which leaves owners of older Android devices out in the cold.

COLORNOTE NOTEPAD

A simple yet powerful note-taking app, ColorNote has just a 700-800KB size. This app lets you organize notes by color. A text note or a checklist can be created.

Additionally, the application offers search, archive, calendar view, and online backup and synchronization.

With its Windows app, you can also view your notes on a PC. This app has been on my phone for quite some time. The app is one of the first few that I install on my devices. You should also try it.

VIA BROWSER - FAST & LIGHT: A GEEK'S BEST CHOICE

While the Via Browser is just 400-500KB in size, it offers a solid alternative to Android browsers that eat up memory.

There is an incognito mode, a night mode, and an option to view the desktop version. In addition, you get tools such as save, translate, view source, and network log.

Using this browser, you can also block ads and images. Also included are add-ons like QR code scanners and download managers. It is quite a package, I must say.

VANILLA MUSIC

Vanilla Music is a good choice if you want a simple music player who plays songs well. The music is categorized according to albums, artists, tracks, genres, and playlists. You can create playlists and change the player's theme. The app is about 600-700KB in size.

GALLERY

Use the Gallery app if you want a tiny photo gallery app with editing capabilities. Are you confused?

This app is called "Gallery." Talk about a simple name!  Folders are displayed horizontally in the gallery, and it has a size of 400-500KB. Slideshows can also be viewed. It feels quite snappy. You can rotate and crop photos if you want to edit them.

MP3 CUTTER AND RINGTONE MAKER

A particular section of a song can sometimes serve as the ringtone for our phones. Some phones come with a built-in ringtone maker, but others don't. With the MP3 Cutter and Ringtone Maker app, you can make ringtones from any song.

With this app, you can also record a new song and edit it. It has a pretty nice interface for cutting the music.

You can set the start and end times of the clip. Alternatively, you can use the touchscreen. It weighs between 600KB and 700KB.

J TOUCH

J Touch adds an assistive touch button to the screen. By tapping or swiping the button, you can perform many actions.

The actions include opening recent apps, last used apps, notification panels, etc. It's a small app ranging in size between 800-900KB.  It would be nice if there were a screenshot action as well.

INSTADICT

A dictionary that is only 600-700 KB in size. Unbelievable, but here it is. Instadict is a dictionary app.

For this app to work, you would need the Internet. You can, however, download offline dictionaries if you wish.

OPEN IN WHATSAPP (CLICK TO CHAT)

We have all been in a situation where we wanted to text someone without saving their number on WhatsApp. The default setting allows you to save someone's phone number so that you can text them.

WhatsApp also has a Click to Chat feature to initiate a conversation without saving a phone number.

To use this feature, you need to click a link where you can change your contact number. Although it works fine, you have to use the link every time you create a new chat.

The developers have made a small app that improves on the same feature. With this app, you just need to type in the number to chat with that person.

DISKUSAGE

You may want to check your phone's disk usage now that you have installed so many apps. We present to you a lightweight storage analyzer app that only weighs 100-200KB.

It is interesting to note that the app only goes by the name DiskUsage. A visual representation corresponds to the size of various directories. It is easy to find out which folder takes up the most space.
